Material, Courses, and Training

We want our people to be trained in sharing the Word and in helping others grow in their commitment as followers of Jesus Christ. We have developed material for Bible study or discipleship groups, and for courses and training in church. We also recommend excellent courses and training programs from our partner organizations, as well as helpful books that can be used in book reading classes.

Bible Study and Small Group Material

Kingdom of God study

Kingdom Perspectives is a Bible study material that helps people see that the kingdom of God is the overarching theme running through the entire Scripture. The Bible is a worldview story - a story about reality - about God's purpose to build a kingdom. This material shows that God's primary identity is King, and explains what the kingdom of God is. The rebellion of angels and the Fall of man plunged the cosmos into a great conflict of two kingdoms. So now, God is getting a people for himself from all nations, rescuing them from the kingdom of darkness, and is also redeeming creation from its bondage to death and decay. God's purpose of building a kingdom will ultimately be fulfilled in the Age to Come.

Journeying by Faith

Walking with God is an easy-to-use small group or Bible study material. It contains the foundational lessons for those who are interested in Christ, or for those who are new followers of Jesus Christ. It presents very simple lessons on how to walk with God by faith - just like the Patriarchs! It can be used before or after Kingdom Perspectives booklet to help the believer in his or her journey of faith and service.

Life purpose

A Purpose Driven Life is not developed by TJFM. This material is taken from Rick Warren's best-selling book, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For? This is practically just the first section of Rick Warren's book, composed of several lessons. We have adopted this material to be used primarily for handling small groups or Bible studies with the unchurched. The material is well-loved by the brethren in church - and by new Bible study leaders - as it is easy to use with their loved ones, friends, and work mates.

Seminars and Courses

Bible interpretation and preaching

Ministry of the Word is a course we have developed to train the brethren to correctly interpret the Scriptures, study the Bible more effectively, prepare teaching or sermon, and powerfully deliver the teaching or sermon to the audience. There course is composed of classroom sessions, study and reading assignments, as well as a practicum.

Seminar on becoming missional

Interface is an excellent one-day seminar developed by Simply Mobilizing International (SMI), and is one of their many products to help local churches mobilize their people into active engagement in kingdom works. This seminar presents Biblical, historical, and strategic reasons why believers and local churches ought to become missional, and be actively engaged in Christ's mission.

A course on mission

The Kairos Course is material developed by Simply Mobilizing International (SMI), also one of their products together with Interface. The Kairos Course is a wonderful tool to help God's people understand the mission of God and the mission of God's people. The course explores the Biblical, historical, strategic, and cultural dimensions of mission. This course is conducted in a variety of formats, so you may want to visit SMI's website to learn more, and to find out about their other products.

Evangelism and Church Planting

Andrew Training is a simple presentation to impart a vision for sharing the Gospel and planting Biblical churches. This uses material and concepts from Harvesters Ministries (see Harvesters below), and is conducted as a one-day training. The participants are shown statistics on the state of evangelization worldwide and in the country, introduced to the Harvesters evangelistic tool, taught what a Biblical church is, and taught the Harvesters 6 steps for planting churches. The participants do a practicum where they share the Gospel to unbelievers out in the community, using the evangelistic tool they learned in class.

Introducing Kingdom Theology

Introduction to Kingdom Theology is a course originally designed for the YWAM Discipleship Training School, to show the students that God's purpose of building a kingdom is the overarching theme of the whole Bible. This seminar highlights the view that the Pentateuch is the key to understanding the whole Bible. In the Pentateuch Moses introduced God as King, pointed to the End Times and the day God's people will receive a new heart, and began the idea of a coming Last Days, picked up by the prophets. TJFM uses this teaching now together with Kingdom Perspectives.

Telling the Story of the Kingdom

The Story of the Kingdom is a seminar designed to teach God's purpose to build a kingdom to people or groups that need a visual and story-telling approach, like tribal people, people in villages, or people in church who prefer this teaching style. This is an alternative to the Kingdom Perspectives material. This seminar uses a big chart with images tracing God's kingdom purpose from the Eternal Past to the Age to Come. We use this as a standalone, or together with Kingdom Perspectives, or with Introduction to Kingdom Theology. The images used in this material were purchased from Global Recordings Network.

Becoming a Bible Study Leader

The Bible Study Leader Track is a simple material we developed to encourage and train our church members to lead Bible studies. Many people in church do not realize they can actually lead people to Christ or help them in their faith journey through  Bible studies or discipleship groups. So, they just need to be shown God will help them do it, shown a few tips, and given a few simple guidelines. This  short training has empowered our people and helped our churches raise up new Bible study leaders.

Ministry Training

Harvesters

Harvesters Ministries is a ministry that trains pastors in evangelism, disciple-making, and in systematic and rapid multiplication of churches. Their program offers a simple but very effective methodology in planting churches, and a 3-year curriculum for training pastors. TJFM now uses the Harvesters program in mobilizing our people in evangelism and disciple-making, and to train our pastors in church planting.

APIIS

The Asia Pacific Institute of International Studies (APIIS) is a seminary that trains Christians to master their ministry. The wonderful thing about APIIS is that they offer a free 2-year Master in Ministry program, as well as a continuing training and upskilling program for all its alumni. TJFM is urging our pastors and our people to seek further training and equipping in God's work by enrolling in the APIIS MMin Program.

Book Reading Classes

About leadership

Water Under the Bridge is a wonderful book written by Ptr Don Barry of Gateway Church in Hamilton, New Zealand. This book talks about the critical importance of values-shaped leadership, especially in our time today where visionary leadership is given more emphasis. Don Barry says: "For vision to be safe and productive, it needs to be bounded by deeply-held values that can sustain a ministry in all seasons. Woven with stories of church life at the coalface, this book is a vital call for leaders to allow the contours of their life and leadership to be values-shaped."

Reading through the Bible

Cover to Cover is a chronological Bible reading plan produced by Selwyn Hughes and Trevor Partridge. This is an excellent material that helps God's people read through the Bible chronologically. We have developed our format and activities for doing a Bible reading class in church using Cover to Cover.

About missional local churches

Gaining by Losing an excellent book written by Ptr J.D. Greear. This book challenges church leaders and Christians to live out the Great Commission. The key for reaching the world with the gospel is found in sending, not gathering, says J.D. Greear. The real mission of the church isn’t how many people it can gather. It’s about training up disciples and then sending them out. In Gaining By Losing, J.D. Greear unpacks ten plumb lines that church leaders and Christians can use to reorient their church’s priorities around God’s mission to reach a lost world.

About church health

In The Unstuck Church, Tony Morgan unpacks each phase of the seven stages of a church's life cycle, that range from the hopeful and optimistic days of launch, to the stagnating last stages of life support, and offers specific and strategic next steps the church leader can take to find it's way to sustained health . . . and finally become unstuck!
Regardless of the stage in which you find your church, it carries with it the world's greatest mission—to "go and make disciples of all the nations . . ." With eternity at stake the Church should be doing most everything within its power to see lives changed forever. The Church should strive for the pinnacle of the life cycle, where they are continually making new disciples and experiencing what Morgan refers to as "sustained health."
